How often should I train with a coach versus on my own?
It depends on your goals and how fast you want results. Most clients start at 2-3 sessions per week for the first 8-12 weeks while we build the movement library and the program. After that, some clients drop to 1-2 sessions while running the written program solo on the other days. Olympia-prep clients often stay at 4-6 sessions per week year-round.
What if I've never lifted before?
Perfect starting point. The first 4-6 weeks for a new lifter is movement education — squat, hinge, press, pull, carry — at light loads, with cues you'll use the rest of your training life. We don't skip steps to chase intensity. The intensity comes when the movement is dialed in.
Can you work around an injury or medical condition?
Yes — and we ask. Chris coaches clients with disc injuries, replaced joints, post-surgical recoveries, cardiac conditions, and chronic pain. Every program adapts to what your body can handle today, with progressions that respect medical clearance. We coordinate with your physical therapist or doctor when that's the right move.
Where do sessions happen?
Primary location is Self Made Training Facility in Del Mar. Online coaching is the option for clients outside the area. If you have a home gym, we'll come to you. Outdoor sessions (beach, park) are an option for conditioning blocks.
